Long Absence

Hey everyone,

It's been a long time since I've made a blog post. I would say we're still plugging away, but it's probably more accurate to say crawling along with mortal wounds. Nothing new, just the same frustrating road blocks times ten. Elemental Lords has been sitting on the shelf for the last several months, mostly untouched at about 98% finished. We just need a programmer to finish the last 2%--hook up some animations to code and fix an AI bug. I know I've stated that I was planning on opening up our recruiting efforts to non locals. I did make an attempt at that, but didn't follow through. Looks like I'll have to take Team Earth more seriously. We'll likely be closing down the office in the next several months and just focusing on an online team. An online team has other disadvantages, but I'm hoping we can mold this into something that's considerably more efficient.

I've been leery of working with a programmer online. Something about, "Here stranger in a distant land, here is all of our code and artwork for our nearly completed game. We don't know you and have no reason to trust you, but please don't run off with it." But the unsettling thing I've had to realize, unless we have funding to pay people, we're not going to be able to finish games with local only talent anyways. The last four and a half years trying to make something happen in Sacramento has taught me that. So that means I risk a stranger running off with our game or we don't have a game. From that perspective, it makes the choice a lot more clear.

Some good news, all 8 grannies and the end boss have been modeled. They need to be textured and rigged. While we've been bored waiting around for a programmer to finish EL, we've also been doing some Raygun stuff. Nothing we want to post yet, but maybe soon.

Anyways, sorry to sound all depressing. Hopefully things turn around and I can share some better news.

Hey Brian,

If you want me to take a look at your last couple of bugs and try to get it done. I'm willing to do that. Let me know!
